Charlotte Jonckheer 3: Personalised Projects / Viridescent
Art integration project for De Sibbe, commissioned by Emmaus and Atelier MA+P architects.
The VIRIDESCENT installation comprises textiles and lights and is intended for the Sibbe, a renovated home that provides support for young children and their parents. The term 'viridescent' implies colour in a state of movement, with light playing the principal role. The wall installation measures approximately 3 metres wide by 5 metres high and is framed within a staircase. It gently plays with the incoming daylight, revealing only subtle colour nuances through the intensity and movement of the light. At night, when the sun has set, the installation itself becomes a source of light, emitting a colourful pattern. Between day and night, and between incoming and emitted light, colour and light interchange playfully over the three floors.
The colour palette was inspired by the blue begonia, a green-leaved plant that showcases beautiful iridescent blue nuances depending on how the light hits it, and which is efficient at utilising sunlight when it is scarce.
The fabrics for this project were developed in collaboration with EEexclusives to meet artistic and technical requirements.

Personalised Projects
My personalised projects stem from a profound appreciation of materiality, craftsmanship, and the relationship between objects and spaces. Each piece has its own history, shaped through dialogue and exchange with the client, and adds value to the experience of exploring. These objects are designed to facilitate movement and provide a sense of balance for those who occupy the space.
