VIRIDESCENT

Art integration project for 'De Sibbe' commissioned by Emmaüs & architects Atelier MA+P.

VIRIDESCENT is a textile and light installation for the Sibbe, a renewed home assisting young children and their parents. VIRIDESCENT (becoming green), implies colour in a state of movement where light plays the principal role.

The wall installation, measuring approximately 3m wide and 5m high, framed within a staircase, gently plays with the incoming daylight - revealing only subtle colour nuances through the light's intensity and movement.
At night, when the sun goes under, the installation is itself a source of light, emitting a colourful pattern.
Between day and night, incoming and emitting light, color and light interchange playfully over the three floors.

The inspiration for the color palette comes from the Blue Begonia, a green leaved plant that showcases beautiful nuances of iridescent blue depending on how the light hits them and to efficiently utilize more energy from sunlight when light is scarce.

The fabrics for this project have been developed together with EEexclusives to meet the artistic and technical qualities.
