VIRIDESCENT
Art integration project for 'De Sibbe' commissioned by Emmaüs & architects Atelier MA+P.
VIRIDESCENT is a textile and light installation for the Sibbe, a renewed home assisting young children and their parents. VIRIDESCENT (becoming green), implies colour in a state of movement where light plays the principal role.
The wall installation, measuring approximately 3m wide and 5m high, framed within a staircase, gently plays with the incoming daylight - revealing only subtle colour nuances through the light's intensity and movement.
At night, when the sun goes under, the installation is itself a source of light, emitting a colourful pattern.
Between day and night, incoming and emitting light, color and light interchange playfully over the three floors.
The inspiration for the color palette comes from the Blue Begonia, a green leaved plant that showcases beautiful nuances of iridescent blue depending on how the light hits them and to efficiently utilize more energy from sunlight when light is scarce.
The fabrics for this project have been developed together with EEexclusives to meet the artistic and technical qualities.

BRUT
Nel Verbeke
Bram Vanderbeke
Linde Freya Tangelder
Charlotte Jonckheer
Ben Storms
BRUT was founded in 2018 and is a collective of emerging Belgian designers. The junction of their practices is a natural consequence of their similarities in idiom, concepts and vision. They exemplify a young generation of Belgian designers which values the significance of collaboration and collective involvement within the contemporary and international design landscape.
BRUT therefore embodies the commitment to realizing a dialogue between designers and their design language: a visual and conceptual encounter which both reflects the common qualities of the designers and emphasizes the personal idiosyncrasies of their practices. Every year, this dialogue is materialized with a co- decided scenography – a shared setting which visualizes a collective narrative.
BRUT has a dedicated attention for the architectural, sculptural and emotional potential of contemporary Belgian design. On the one hand, this focus is a result of the personal sensibilities of the participating designers – the corresponding characters of their practices. On the other hand, it creates a common ground and motive; it realizes and defines an environment where the designers can show, strengthen and challenge each other.

INSOMNIA
Cjnv in collabaration with Verilin
Cjnv is Nel Verbeke & Charlotte Jonckheer
Cjnv presents a triptych on insomnia.
Three different ways of experiencing sleepless nights: a romantic insomnia, an existential insomnia and an annihilating insomnia. Three designs of bed linen interacting with the (non-) sleepers’ senses. Each set of linen translates sleeplessness in a tangible and minimalistic way.
‘A triptych on insomnia’ utilises the richness of thoughts on insomnia from philosophy and literature. Cjnv were intrigued by the phenomena of insomnia. How does an altered perception affects the relation between sleeplessness and the sleeping environment? How can the relation between sleeplessness and the surroundig trigger an altered perception.
A fresh look at the various aspects of insomnia has lead cjnv to encourage a (philosophical) dialogue between insomniacs and their chronic sleeplessness through a more appropriate design of bedroom linen.
To realize this project cjnv collaborated with Verilin, a belgian linen manufacturing company, producing high quality goods and always looking for innovation in their field.
a romantic insomnia
“There is no use of a sleeping man, as there is not of a dead man. ... but whoever of us is most solicitous for living the true life, and for entertaining noble sentiments, will keep awake for as long time as possible.”
Clement of Alexandria
an existential insomnia
“But it’s a night without slumber or moon or stars, a night as if all had been turned inside out – in nity internalized and ready to burst, and the day converted into the black lining of an unfamiliar suit.”
Fernando Pessoa
an annihilating insomnia
“In the night, insomnia is discussion, not the work of arguments bumping against other arguments, but the extreme shuddering of no thoughts, percussive stillness.”
Emil Cioran

TACT
A collection of Planters for D&M
About the collection: “The recycled ceramics, which were used for TACT, are the source of inspiration for the development of this collection of planters.
TACT is a collection that bridges the gap between old and new.
The planters show the beauty of circularity with their pronounced materiality. They are robust objects, whereby the subtle shades of color and the structure of the recycled ceramics create their own aesthetic. This is accentuated with the coating and the asymmetrical shape of the planter, allowing a game of shadow over the surface."
