CHAUD SIDE TABLE SERIES LOW II
The CSTS LOW II are constructed out of paper composite and Slate. Recycling paper waste form a local print shop and hand pressing them with stone dust results in color neutral, stone like surfaces. For the LOW II a natural pigment is added to the Chaud Composite to match the Slate top.
Once pressed, the paper composite is still humid and can be bend. They are dried in curves, which afterwards frame the base of the table. The weight of the stone table top gives stability to the piece. Each paper form is unalike the other as the air dictates their shape during the drying process.
United, the dried paper and the stone, challenge each other to create a series of architectural inspired side tables. The design of the CSTS is defined by strong graphical lines to allow a game of shadows, created by the movement of daylight, over the tactile surfaces.
